Yr 9 Photography Rotation

Welcome to your photography unit for Yr 9.  In this unit you will be focusing on Patterns and how to use natural forms to help you create them.

Week 1 - Artist Analysis - Craig Cramer - Patterns from Nature

CRAIG CRAMER

Craig Cramer is an ex-magazine editor, plant lover and a bit of green thumb. He runs a personal blog called Ellis Hollow. Every month, he creates the most incredible scans of his plants and flowers, which he calls Bloom Day Scans.

Cramer recently started experimenting with his images by creating kaleidoscopic floral patterns.

Task 1: Pick 1 of Cramer's images to create an Analysis Slide - Use THIS resource to help you

Task 2: On the next slide, select a range (no fewer than 10) of Cramer's pattern images and arrange them in a grid collage.

WEEK 2 - MACRO SHOOT

Below is an example of a Macro Shoot.  You will need to take a minimum of 20 photos - this will give you a good number to select the 4 photos you would like to edit.  Once you have taken all your photos, you will need to upload them into a folder in your google drive.

The final task, having uploaded them into your drive is to add them to a new slide in your presentation.  Click INSERT > IMAGE > DRIVE and you should find all your photos there.

Contact Sheet

A contact sheet is like a page of pictures that a photographer prints out to help them choose which ones to keep.

To make it, they take a roll of film they used in their camera and cut it up into smaller strips. Then they lay these strips on a piece of special paper and shine light on it to make tiny versions of each picture.

This lets them see all the pictures at once and pick out the best ones.
